“Like Her, Please”

I grew up looking at her.

She had the right jeans, the real leather jacket (not pleather), wore make-up and shaved her legs before me. She had the cutest boyfriend and the newest model car. She was popular. Then I grew up.

She sings better than me therefore gets more solo opportunities. Her husband takes a couples Bible study with her. She received book contract before me even though I have been speaking longer. She is more well known. Wait, did I say I grew up?

Let’s just say I am still growing up and will be until Jesus comes or takes me home. It is embarrassing to admit all this, maybe somebody can identify with me.

This morning I want to:  Enter His gates with thanksgiving, And His courts with praise. Give thanks to Him; bless His name. Psalm 100:4.

I want today to be a day of gratitude rather than comparison.

Lord, you created me fearfully and wonderfully in your image. Forgive me thinking less of myself.

  1. This reminds me of a message that Robert Madu, a guest speaker at our church brought a little over a month ago. He made a statement, “Comparison is the #1 destroyer of destiny.” We have to keep our eyes on Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith.” (Heb.12:1-2) He also made an analogy of Saul and David in 1Sam. 18:5-9, and that in vs.9, “And from that time on Saul kept a jealous eye on David.” ( in conjunction of our RTW 😉 ) Oh wow…don’t we all from time to time get those ole “green eyes”? Eyes of envy, jealousy, and eyes that want to compare ourselves to others!! Let us all know that we each are His Masterpiece!
Ephes. 2:10 “For we are God’s masterpiece. He created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us all along.”

  2. Perfect readings for a dreary snowy/rainy Monday morning! Thank you for making me smile as I meditate on Him this morning!
